Leading African-American Clergy to Risk Arrest in Front of the White House During the National Day of Prayer

WASHINGTON, May 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Rev. Dr. Johnny Hunter and Rev. Stephen Broden will lead a "prayer picket" at the White House on Thursday, May 7.

They intend to kneel and pray in front of the White House proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior not President Obama.

The ministers will hold a news conference on Thursday, May 7, at 10:00 A.M. and then they will kneel to pray in front of the White House.

The location will be the Pennsylvania Ave. sidewalk in front of the White House.

The Rev. Dr. Johnny Hunter states,

"On the National Day of Prayer, many Christians across this nation will be praying in vain. The pride and arrogance of Christians who put their hope and trust in a man have hindered their prayers. God resists proud and arrogant people.

"It is an abomination to build an 'Obama Nation,' a nation dismantled and rebuilt in the image of a man who does not believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. There are now Obama apologists who have no problem with President Obama covering up 'IHS,' the monogram for the Holy Name of Jesus during a speech at Georgetown University.

"With that in mind, we will kneel and pray in the name of Jesus.

"We do this know that as Christians knowing that we must take the gospel to the streets and try to the save the lives of pre-born children. Even if that means getting arrested as has happened recently to some African-American clergy.

"We come to pray at the White House knowing that the House and Senate, at the request of the President, has passed legislation which prohibits the free exercise of religion. H.R. 1388, the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, forbids participants to participate in religious activities including worship.

"We are asking Christians around the nation to join us in standing for God's justice and truth. Since President Obama is not participating in any National Day of Prayer events, we are coming to his house to be a prophetic, prayer witness."
